Everyone has seen the Hatching Sands. The majority of the Weyr have either Stood or watched many previous hatchings. However, none of them seem to notice the dark passageway just beyond the sands. Recently discovered by only a few of the Weyr, the mall cavern this passage led to was the perfect place for the wild Bristini queen to make her home.
She was young, but strong. One the wild side, she got herself pregnant within a year. Born just outside the Weyr, the queen had enough sense to try and find refuge inside. Wandering to the warmest place she could find, the queen stumbled across the sands. However, being a Bristini, she searched out the area until she came across the passageway and the small cavern beyond. Here, is where she made her temporary home.
Less than 1/4 of a turn later, two Bristini kits lay next to the Ocean's black body. One was a charcoal gray male with forest green stripes, eyes and tip of the tail. The other was black like herself and male as well. However, his stripes, eyes and tip of tail were orange as the rising sun. The young queen gazed lovingly at the small balls of fur that nestled against her own warm body. She and her new family would stay here. Who knew? Maybe there were nice people here.
((Okie-dokie. Here's the deal. There is one Forest male and one Dawn male. Who knows, if things go well, maybe one of ya can Impress the young queen. We're gonna need a queen anyways for future litters... Anyhow.
Your characters can 'stumble' upon this small cavern if you're interested in maybe Impressing one of the two young ones. I play both the kits up until they Impress. Mkay? mkay. You'll know when you Impress. I'll probably tell you in OOC or something.))

((I'm going to bring Cadei in here, before I post with Rizu. xDD))
Cadei had set out to exploring the Weyr. Taking the back tunnels, long forgotten by most, she assumed as she coughed up dust that had collected layer upon layer, and the mucky dark, dampness of them. Looking up, she saw a break from the never-ending darkness - and not from the glow she had left at the back so she could find her way back to the inhabited part of the Weyr.
It grew hotter as she got deeper into the tunnel, gazing at the light before her. It was dim, being just at dawn, but still she could make out the smallest markings of a hatching ground. So these were the back tunnels that led to the grounds - they had been rumored from Weyr to Weyr, no one being sure where they actually were, although many were sure they existed. It was unlikely anyone had been in here for turns.
About half-ways through the tunnel, she spotted a figure, with two shorter ones attached-like. She hurried back to her glow basket, grabbing it and lugging it closer to where she had almost stumbled upon the dark lumps. As she neared it, she made it out to be three figures, one larger one, with two smaller ones beside it. Looking closer, she recognized them to be bristinis.
The candidate set the glow basket on the ground, slowly walking forward to look at the creatures. The larger one was obviously and ocean, the single queen of the species. One of the smaller ones was a forest, and the other...a dawn? Yes, she supposed that the bright eyes and the tip of the tail didn't lie, and he or she was a dawn.
Approaching them, Cadei held out her hand and got on her knees, slowly scooting forward so as not to scare them off. She wasn't quite sure how to talk to them, but she finally decided on a soft meow, thanking Faranth that there was nobody with her, for the sound would have been too embarrassing to utter. When she stopped the noise, she bit her lower lip. Trying not to sound too much like a dimglow, she softly said, "Hello, lovely." This was directed at the ocean as much as it was to her kits - they were all so adorable. She wasn't too educated on their kind, but had a vague idea that they impressed like fire lizards and dragons.
About that she wasn't too sure. Impression to one of the bristinis? It would probably be fine, but still...she just wasn't sure. At the moment, she was worried about impressing a dragon, not a feline.

((Atty's coming! XDD))
The darkness was something that had always allured him - and this was no exception. While the sun as out and bright on the outside Atezard felt safe inside of the cold stone walls, wandering the maze of ways and labyrinths that he'd familiarized himself over the sevendays he'd been here. He was sure he'd seen fur around before, and even once heard a mewling sounds, but the lad was never able to find out for certain what it was. Today, however, he felt lucky.
His friend and almost brother, Minallo, was off in chores - caring for live stock once more. It would be a while until he returned. And even then, he was still a day person. Sure, Minallo tried to be there with him as best as he could - and often pushed himself over the limit - but Atezard didn't wished for him to continue doing that. Besides, it wasn't the same. If only he could have someone that shared the same habits as him...
A fire lizard? He doubted it. Those creatures were sleepy as soon as the sun begun to set. Plus, they just weren't of his liking. Too small, fragile and skittering things. Plus they could make quite a ruckus when wished. No, fire lizards weren't pets for him. While he continued to debate in his mind his hand trailed lightly on the sack tied around his waist - a few meatrolls and bread along with some fish inside. His lunch, for when hunger dug and bore into him.
The male wasn't even aware anymore as he walked, lost in thought as he was. Amethyst hued eyes could perfectly see through the dark alleys - so he had no need for a glow basket or anything of the sort. A sound did brought him back to Pern, a mewling like one... Though whatever made it sounded like it was dying. He blinked, noticing four figures ahead - and recognizing the sound to have come from the girl present among them. The other three seemed like cat creatures - though Atezard wasn't sure. He was sure Minallo could tell him what they where, but he had no clue on the matter.
"That's meant to be the sound they make? You sound more like a dying wherry next to a cauldron."
He finally retorted, gaze fixed upon Cadei's form. Here, in the darkness of the tunnel, only his eyes gleamed lightly to give away his position. Thankful the glow basket wasn't all that bright, so it didn't burden his eyes as he came nearer. Lifting his eyes away from the girl he then looked at the Ocean and her two kits: Forest and Dawn. Not that he knew their ranks, what they were or how the colors meant something. Really, Atezard was clueless in this matter, but he knew one thing. These creatures seemed fascinating. And he wanted one. His attention was drawn almost at once to the orange kitten - his brighter markings registering far more easily into his mind than those of his forest green brother. He said nothing, though, simple regarding the Mother and her children with a look - and then nodding his had lightly in greetings to them. He'd no idea what they were, but they seemed important... Enough to deserve some of his respect.

The queen had scented the girl approach long before she appeared in the dark cavern. Fur bristling slightly, the cat let out a low growl as the girl got closer, but made no move to lash out. When the human made a noise, she tilted her head to one side - wondering what that noise meant? Were she and her kits in danger? No. The girl did not look dangerous.
Not long after the girl appeared, the Bristini sensed another being closing in. Looking up behind the girl, all the queen saw were a pair of glowing purple eyes. They seemed to be watching her and her kits. She blinked slowly at the pair of eyes, but made no move to investigate who they belonged to. The queen slowly turned her attention to her kits and licked each of them lovingly on the head.
-My sweets. They are here for you-
The queen flicked her tail at the two humans. She wasn't aware of the whole 'Impression' process, but this, somehow, felt right. The two kits reacted the same to their mother's statement: in doing absolutely nothing. They both continued to snooze comfortably next to her warm body. They'd know soon enough what they'd have to do.

Cadei glared bullets at the lad that had just appeared. Her mouth stayed clamped shut, for she knew that if she opened it she would go off. It was a simple comment, but she despised rude people. And, well, that wasn't a good first impression, to say the least.
Calming herself down by gazing at the ocean and her kits, she noticed a slight, barely noticed exchange, that she didn't really believe happened herself. Nothing happened, so she just reasoned it away, but she could have been certain that the ocean was talking to her kits. Was that even possible? No, no, they were felines. She knew that they impressed like firelizards, but they weren't.
Well, even if they could speak to one another telepathically, it didn't mean that they were complerely telepathic. That wasn't the only thing on her mind, however. It wasn't this strange lad, but the bristinis. They really were adorable. And, it made her wonder...she knew that they impressed...
Turning back around, she focused he attention on this one.
"Do you know a lad by the name of Minallo?" she asked. Her question sounded innocent enough, until she added, "Perhaps he could teach you some manners." She had decided that he was a drudge just because there was no way he was a rider, and there were no male candidates. Anyways, he looked to old to be a weyrbrat.
She was turned away from him, and had not yet glanced his purple eyes. As she slowly pivoted to see him, they weren't even teh first thing she noticed. She did notice his hieght, however, and was taken aback. He sounded much older, but his height proved to be wrong. He looked younger than Minallo! Only after she made this observation did her eyes wander towards his eyes. This did not surprise him, however. Most would overlook height for the eyes, but Cadei was strange. "Nice eyes, little one," she told him. Normally she wasn't so rude, but...you fight a rude comment with a rude comment...or two.

"If I do know someone by that name it is nothing of your business, Candidate. So keep your nose in your chores and thoughts of impressing huge lizards."
The male retorted, snorting lightly as he watched the female's back. His gaze turned back to the Bristini, watching the Queen lick each of her kits in a loving manner - and flicker her tail towards them. Could she actually be speaking to the small fur balls? Minallo had told him dragons could, same with fire lizards. But he'd never mentioned felines. This was utterly intriguing indeed.
"Nice eyes, little one."
The male glanced back at Cadei, his look hardened into a cold glare as amethyst hued eyes locked on her frame. The female was older than he, but that didn't meant he cared. His pale arms remained crossed, features stilled into showing nothing - even if inside of him the desire to make her swallow those words, in a painful manner, was very much alive. Still, he wouldn't let her get the upper hand, so a smug smirk soon adorned his features.
"Why, thank you. They are far better than yours or any other person alive - so it's understandable you should be in awe of them."
With that he tilted his head to the sides, stretching his neck lightly, before leaning against the stone walls. His attention was once more on the Bristini and the little Dawn one, intrigued by the bright markings of the little kit. Cadei was nothing more than a smudge on the background to him.

Now that was uncalled for. Calling dragons huge lizards…she had to make him pay for that. But, what could she, Cadei the Candy, do to make him regret his insult towards dragons and their species? Instead, she just spent her time thinking of a reply, instead of throwing his face in the dusty, smoggy dirt as she was pretty confident she could do. Finally, when she decided that there was nothing that could be good enough to make him eat his words, she simply said, “You don’t act like a drudge, you know. No, you, little boy, don’t.”
Even as he tried to work out a retort, she let a smirk come on to her face. Just yesterday she had been laughing with Minallo, and now she was glaring at this lad…whose name she still hadn’t caught. Well, he probably wouldn’t give it to her if she asked, so…why even bother?
All thoughts of that, however, were wiped away as he said those words. Letting her laugh become as free-spirited as it had yesterday with Min, she gave him a genuine smile. However, her words were ice as she replied, “Oh, I’m not in awe. Actually, I pity you. To have to use your eyes to gain attention…it’s alright. I rather like my eyes as they are, and prefer not to look like a strange, deformed wher in the shape of a human.” This banter actually amused her, although she knew that these words could cut. She wasn’t amused by the fact that she had just insulted him, but it was nice to see that people could match her in wit.
As his attention shifted, she let her own, an actually genuine smile coming on to her face as she looked fondly at the felines. The Forest was so dark, and he looked so sweet. And then, the Dawn was so bright, probably full of energy. Cadei pitied the mom slightly, thinking that she was probably lost without a home, until she began to envy her. At least she didn’t have to deal with such drama! Finally, she just let out a small, practically silent laugh at her own silly thoughts. No, this bristini was lucky, but she supposed that they both got good deals. After all, she couldn’t stand and impress, but she did get to roam as she chose. Good balance.

The queen Bristini watched with wonder as the two humans communicated. Being a wild and having no Bond, the cat could not understand any of their speech. However, their tones and body language she could easily read. These two people were not happy. She wished no harm to come to her kits, and two humans fighting almost always ended badly. Curling her tail protectively around her kits, the queen let out a low, warning growl towards the humans.
It could have been the noise, or maybe the tenseness of the Ocean's body, but the two kits began to stir. The Dawn was the first to rise, his black fur now looking slightly charcoal color with the new light. Slowly getting to his paws, the tom looked at the two humans with bright, orange eyes. He had never seen such large creatures before in his life. Puffing out his fur, the young Bristini made an attempt to make himself look bigger, but it failed miserably. His fuzz for fur would never seem too intimidating.
The Forest tom watched with sleep eyes as his brother attempted to scare the two creatures away. However, when the attempt failed, curiousity krept over him. What were these two beings? Were they here to harm them? No. They would've done it by now. Slowly getting to his small paws, the Forest stepped out of his mother's protective cocoon to get a better look at the creatures. There was a girl closest to him and his family, and a pair of purple eyes a little off behind her. Not wanting to wander too far from his mother, the Forest turned his attention to the girl. Padding up to her, he looked up at her.
-It's big- The comment was directed towards his mother, who began to purr - amused. The queen could feel it in her instincts that in a little while, her kits would no longer be hers. They would belong to Them.
The Dawn male, on the otherhand, was more interested in the purple eyes a little ways off from the girl and his brother. After seeing his brother successful in leaving their mother's side, he bounded out as well. Flicking his tail slightly, the young kit skidded to a hault just inside the perimeter of the light. He glanced back at his mother, who blinked affectionetly at him. Taking this as an approval, the Dawn turned his attention back to the lad with purple eyes. However, now that he was close to the human, he agreed with his brother's comment. They were big. Although, those purple eyes were oddly... soothing.
((I have -never- done this side of a Pet Impression before... I think it shows. xD ))

"That depends on what you believe drudge's behavior is meant to be. I believe I'm acting pretty well according to those guide lines - until you decided to get snappy about one comment."
After all, he'd only commented how bad her mewling had sounded - to him, at least - and she'd gone about insulting him and trying to pick on the color of his eyes. That was a big no-no in Atezard's book. The male hadn't even bothered to look back at her, focused on the Ocean and her kits instead.Honestly, he had no desire to even speak with the girl - but he wouldn't let her trash him around verbally. Girl or not, he didn't care. She'd learn to show respect. For now, she was nothing more than a simple nuisance...
Until she decided to open her mouth again.
Amethyst irises shot back to look at the girl once more, the pupil shrinking to it's minimum as he boiled with anger. How dare she insult him in such a way?! She had no reason to speak about the matter - nor any experience on what it was like. A glare was settled on his features - much like he gaze of a predator calculating the last moments of life his prey will have - before he turned away from her. No, she wasn't worthy of his anger. She didn't knew what it was like.
As the Queen Bristini growled in waning he trned to gaze back at her - keeping himself to the shadows. She wasn't pleased with her bickering, and the reason as obvious. Her kits were here, and no mother ever wanted harm done to them. Just like his had always protected him. 'It doesn't matter, she's gone now...' The male chased the thought away from his mind, not noticing the Forest kitten waddle over to Cadei and inspect the girl. His attention was caught when a certain fluff ball stopped just at the limit of the light, vibrant orange eyes gazing up at him. The kit seemed... Entranced by something? He couldn't really guess, for the lad had no reason to believe his eyes could actually be appealing to someone. Sure, he'd try to make it sound that way - but reality was very different. Almost no one cared for a boy who was no use during day-time.
"What's wrong with you?"
He'd bent down, now kneeling on the ground to get a better view of the kit at his feet. Tilting his head lightly to the left he allowed a few bang of ebony hair to fall naturally to the side, and a few across his face and eyes. The vibrant markings of the kit were quite appealing, in his mind, though that may be because he seemed so much different than his brother. A pale hand reached out, touching the tip of the Dawn's nose - very similar to the way Minallo used to do to him when teasing the younger lad.

Cadei, thinking of a retort, stopped herself. What was she saying? She might not know what really stung about those comments, but she wasn't a dimglow, and could see the obvious hurt. He had beeen fine until her latest comment, that about the eyes. Well, she didn't know that it would have actually hurt - she didn't know his past. Shards, she didn't know his name. But, really, she should have been smart enough not to do anything like...that.
About to apologize, she noticed that the small Forest Bristini had found his way over to her feet. Crouching, she remembered her manners, and decided to apologize before she got caught up with the feline. Turning slightly so that she face Atezard, she told him, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have commented on something that I knew nothing about." With a sigh, she told him, "I'm Cadei."
With that, her attention was shifted to the kit that was looking up at her with dark green eyes, and she reached down to hesitantly stroke him. Her voice in a murmur, she asked, "Hello, little one. What're you doing over here?"
Unlike the boy next to her in the shadows, Cadei noticed that the Dawn had wandered over to Atezard, and she let a slight smile on to her face. In no way was it a smirk, and she really did feel sorry that she had said those things. Although she didn't quite know why.
Her eyes drifting towards the Ocean mother, she told her, "You have two lovely kits." And really, she did. The forest seemed so...majestic as he had slipped over his brother to come look up at her. And the dawn was just so...bright and curious, and brave. Trying to scare she and Atezard away, he had puffed out his fur...and, now, he was going to invesitgate the bright lamps that were Atezard's eyes.
Actually, Cadei had nothing against the purple ovals. No, she had just been insulted that he called dragons big lizards and had made a rude comment on her 'mew'. She had heard that she couldn't really mimic others, but...maybe she had just been in a bad mood because someone had interrupted her investigation of the Bristinis. But, no, because she usually preferred having people to accompany her on these expeditions. Oh, she didn't know, now, she had just been in a sour mood. And taken it out on Atezard and his eyes.
Letting out another sigh, Cadei turned her attention fully back to the Forest. Her hands were back at her side, and she just gave a small grin to the kit. She didn't know how to act, but she knew that to impress a firelizard you project thoughts of happiness...and that's what she did.

((I guess they'll Impress now; so then you two won't have to wait for me anymore. =P))
The Ocean queen watched her two kits pick their humans. She was in no way going to intervene. This was right. This was why she came here, so maybe her kits would have a chance at a good life. Slowly getting to her paws, the Ocean moved her body into a sitting position. There was no reason to be laying down anymore and the ground was beginning to feel a little uncomfortable. She began to lick her paws and rub them over her face as her kits did all the work. She was almost relieved, not having anyone extra to look after anymore. The queen looked at Cadei when the girl spoke about her kits. She didn't understand the words, and just blinked at the girl before going back to her bathing
The Forest was watching Cadei very closely. She had turned her attention away from him and to the boy in the shadow for a moment, and the kit was a little taken-aback. However, soon enough, he was the center of her gaze again. The tom padded closer to the girl and batted at her foot playfully. He then looked up at her and let out a quiet mew. His mind was in diseray for the moments that followed. He had never had his conscious bind to someone else's. When it was all over, the kit was shaking slightly. He felt... happy? Happiness in his mind? He didn't know the meaning of happiness until now, where did it come from. Did it come from her?
-Hello?-
The Dawn hadn't noticed any of his brother's doings. He didn't really care though, either. He was too entranced by the lad with the glowing eyes to care about anything else. He watched the boy carefully as Atezard noticed him and bent down to him. The Dawn didn't move, so Atezard had done the first meeting. He watched as a hand came out of the shadow and touched his nose playfully. Taking a step back, the Dawn surveyed the hand carefully, then took a step forward and rubbed his head on the hand; purring slightly. His heart was set, he'd spend his time with this boy. His thoughts were cut short by a tremendoud pressure to his head. He shook it slightly, trying to make the pressure go away. Soon, it did, but the Dawn could feel a slight.... emptiness? No, that wasn't it. His mind just seemed a lot bigger, like he was sharing it with something. With the boy? Maybe. The Dawn was stumbed, so he decided to test out his theory.
-Purple eyes- The tom paused, watching the boy. -Good-
The queen watched as her two kits Impressed. She herself didn't know what Impression felt like, but she watched as her two kits took on whatever it was. She was proud and happy. They would lead a good life. Getting to her paws, she slowly padded over to them. Not saying a word, she licked first the Forest, then the Dawn, on the top of the head. Then, glancing at both humans in-turn, she blinked at them, then turned and disappeared down the dark passage.
((Okie-dokie. Cadei, you got the Forest. Atezard got the Dawn. You play them from here out. Give 'em names and such. *nods* Forest font color code is: forestgreen Dawn font color code is: darkorange))

((Mmkay, although you weren't slowing me down! Thanks, Selchy! C=))
Cadei barely noticed as the Ocean Queen began to gain a bored expression, knowing - or, at least hoping - that the bristini knew her kits were going to good people. The candidate knew that Atezard had to be decent, at least. They just hadn't made the...best first impression. Well, it wasn't as if he had let her. Shaking her head slightly, her eyes on the forest, she tried to momentarily forget about the drudge. And, for once, it actually worked.
The brunette's attention fully on the dark kit, she let out a soft rumble of laughter as the forest batted at her foot. His eyes were turned to her, and Cadei had his full attention. However, she had forgotten about impression awhile ago. When a soft, maliable and sweet mind began to meld with hers, the candidate's first reaction was to draw away from him, before she actually figured what she was doing. However, she quickly remembered, embracing it as she heard his voice.
-Hello?-
Reaching down to caress the dark, striped fur, a smile on her face, Cadei delicately reached across their new bond, her mindvoice hesitant as it rolled across the link between human and bristini kit. /Hello, little one. I am Cadei. And you are.../ As she waited for a reply, small hands scratched the kit's rump.
-Little one? Is that who I am? I know my name is Kairk, but...- The dark male voice was as hesitant as the candidate's own. Arching his green-striped back to lead her to a particularly itchy spot, he added, -Do you like me?-
The girl couldn't help but laugh a bit. /Of course I like you, Kairk. Why wouldn't I? You chose me!/ Cadei told him, firmly but fondly. She loved him. It was strange - a few moments ago, she loved her foster-father, her foster-mother, and possibly a few of her foster-sisters. But never an animal. She was fond of them, but she loved Kairk. Not deeply, not sensualy. But she did love him.
The forest did not respond, only purring deeply and rubbing his head against her own. A full-blown grin coming to her face, Cadei did not notice the nameless boy's impression - all of her attention was on her small kit. -Kairk. My name is Kairk.- the green-striped creature insisted. The amusement brightening her eyes, she picked up "Kairk" and squeezed him lightly. Now this made her day, she thought as she set the kitten back on the ground.

"Just leave me the shards alone, woman."
His own reply towards Cadei were cold an bitter, a clear sign that he wanted nothing more to do with the Candidate or the fluff of gray and green fur that had waddled up to her. He turned back to look at the black and orange kit before him, watching the fluff ball contently press his head against his exposed hand and purr away. A faint smile lined the male's lips, shifting to a sitting position as he watched the antics of the little thing. Soon, however, something entered his mind - and he blinked lightly. Was this how it felt when Candidates bonded with dragons?
-Purple eyes? Good.- {So, you can speak?} -Of course! Mama thought us! Oi, purple eyes, what's your name?- {Atezard. And what's with you and mentioning my eyes?} -Is it bad that I mention them? I like them, they're far better than the eyes of that girl my boring brother chose. Oh, I am Ziek.- {No, it's not bad... Just, I'm not used to it. Ziek? That's an interesting name for a fluff ball.} -I like your name too, and I'm not a fluff ball! I'm going to be a brave warrior one day and everyone will bow down before me in fear!-
The tom hissed lightly in a playful manner, rump now high in the air as his charcoal and orange fluff for fur puffed up lightly. Atezard watched him, amused, before grinning lightly and batting a hand at him - the kit stumbling down to the side. {You have lots to work on if you plan to grow up to be like that, Ziek.} The young one mewed lightly, surprised, before scrambling back to his paws and mewing again - purring all the time in a content manner.
-That's why I have you, purple eyes! You'll be like my mentor and teach me, and we'll grow together! We'll be inseparable, unbeatable and respected by all!- {You really are an amusing one...}
